Key information

The Research Councils UK Energy Programme is informed by a range of different sources. We are involved in ongoing dialogue with the research community, through our visits to universities, energy-related businesses and other stakeholders.

We also take account of emerging priorities for the Programme by consultation through the following routes:

• Scientific advisory committee (SAC)
  Advice that helps us to define the Programme’s approach to supporting research and training, representatives are drawn from the providers and users of research

• Energy senior research fellow
  Our ambassador for UK energy research

• Workshops
  A variety of workshops held to identify research and training challenges and priorities, scope specific activities, and consult and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.

UK - US Workshop in Nuclear Engineering (pdf 477kb)
Report of the workshop held in Washington 20-21 April 2009. The workshop was aimed at identifying areas of potential collaborative activity between UK and US academics and other stakeholders.

Energy and Communities (pdf 235kb)  
Workshop held on 3 March 2009 to scope, and promote a strategic research agenda to address sustainability of Energy in Communities and to strengthen the capability of the UK research base in Energy and Communities. Following this workshop a call for proposals was announced on 27 November 2009.
